Chaos Walking — The Knife of Never Letting Go
Release Date: 22nd January 2021
Adapted from Patrick Ness’ The Knife of Never Letting Go, Chaos Walking follows Tom Holland as Todd, a boy living in a near future when a girl (Daisy Ridley) crashes onto Earth. In this sci-fi dystopian, women have vanished and the remaining inhabitants communicate through “Noise”.
Without Remorse
Release Date: Unknown 2021
Michael B. Jordan stars as John Clark, a former US Navy Seal and current CIA operative, as he embarks on a revenge mission to murder the drug lord that killed his wife. It has been adapted from Tom Clancy’s novel of the same name. Originally scheduled for February 2021, Without Remorse is in the process of being sold to Amazon Studios to release on Prime.
Anatomy of a Scandal
Release Date: Unknown (2021)
This gripping psychological thriller has been adapted from Sarah Vaughan’s popular 2018 release. A politician is accused of rape in a highly publicised scandal. His wife is certain of his innocence and the prosecutor — handed a once in a lifetime case — is desperate to see justice served.
The Nightingale
Release Date: 31st December 2021
Dakota and Elle Fanning star as two sisters separated by ideals and circumstance as they struggle to survive through World War II, celebrating women’s contribution to the war. The Nightingale will be adapted from Kristin Hannah’s devastatingly beautiful historical fiction novel.
Firefly Lane
Release Date: 3rd February 2021
Katherine Heigl (Tully) and Sarah Chalke (Kate) star as best friends in the series adaptation of Kristin Hannah’s Firefly Lane. Tully is an outgoing and ambitious woman pursuing a journalism career; Kate is shy and alone, desperate to follow Tully wherever she goes.
Last Letter From Your Lover
Release Date: 12 March 2021
Adapted from Jojo Moyes’ book of the same title, Last Letter From Your Lover follows a London journalist as she is drawn to an exchange of letters between a pair of star-crossed lovers and becomes obsessed with understanding how the affair ends.
A Boy Called Christmas
Release Date: December 2021
It’s a little early to be thinking of Christmas 2021, but Matt Haig’s incredible novel A Boy Called Christmas, which follows a young boy as he journeys across Finland in search of his father, is filled with magic and Christmas spirit and will be the perfect adaptation for next Christmas.
The Last Duel
Release Date: 15th October 2021
Based on The Last Duel by Eric Jager, The Last Duel follows Matt Damon and Adam Driver as best friends in 14th century France forced to fight to the death by order of King Charles VI.
Dune
Release Date: Late 2021
This classic sci-fi novel by Frank Herbert was originally scheduled for 2020, but has been pushed back to the following year. However, Dune is an ambitious and anticipated film taking place in a distant future, where society is controlled by rival houses.
Cruella
Release Date: 26th May 2021
First introduced as a character by Dodie Smith in The Hundred and One Dalmatians, Estella de Vil (played by Emma Stone) is a young fashion designer. She becomes obsessed with Dalmatian dog’s skin and descends into the horrifying villain Cruella.
